Travel Safely This Summer With These Tips
Everyone loves to travel during the warm summer months. It is the perfect time of year. Everything seems to slow down, and the days are longer. Your kids are out for the summer, plants are in bloom, and food just seems to be fresher. Why would you not want to go on a vacation during this season? Before you head down the open road, though, it is important that your vehicle is ready for the trip. Travel safely this summer with these tips suggested by AAA.
You are not going anywhere without your tires. Even when only one has a flat or low air pressure, it prohibits your ability to go anywhere. Before you set out on a cross-country road trip, you need to make sure that you have four bouncy tires. Check the tread and that there is not any bald or smooth patches on your tires. You will also want to ensure that each tire has an adequate amount of tire pressure. While you may want to buy four new tires before a big trip on the road, that is not always feasible. An alternative that will still provide care for your tires is to see that they are properly rotated.
Replace Windshield Wipers
While you hope to schedule your summer trip around beautiful weather, the weather can waver this season at a moment’s notice. There are also certain areas across the country that may be a bit more dusty, have more pollen, or have a lot of insects. Either way, you will want to be able to wipe off these elements, so that you can see clearly. With that in mind, be sure to check and replace your windshield wipers. This is especially true if your wipers have seen a few years and are starting to crack.
Summer is going to be hot. You do not want a stuffy cabin, so make sure to check the air conditioner in your vehicle. AAA suggests that you take a drive around to inspect your car’s air conditioning system. As you drive, pay attention to see if you are aware if the cooling capacity has reduced at all. If it has, then you will want to take your car to a dependable service center like at Bentley Hyundai to see if the air filter needs to be replaced or the coolant filled up.

Restock Emergency Kit
Your vehicle really should already have an emergency kit. If it does not, then prepare one for your travels. If you do have a kit in your car, then you will want to examine the contents of the emergency kit. Hopefully, you have not needed to use the kit, but if you have, then replace the items from the kit. Even if you have never had to use your emergency kit, you still may need to replace certain items if they have expired. Some of the items that you need to keep on hand in your emergency kit include, water, non-perishable food for you and any pets, flashlight and extra batteries, jumper cables, a first-aid kit, tool kit, and a blanket.
